implanon.webp

At Northmead Medical and Skin Caner Clinic, we provide Implanon® NXT insertion and removal for women seeking reliable, long-acting reversible contraception. The procedure is performed by our experienced GPs under local anaesthetic in our fully equipped treatment room. Implanon® NXT provides effective contraception for up to 3 years and can be removed at any time if you wish to become pregnant or choose another contraceptive method.

Implanon® NXT Insertion

Insertion is a quick procedure performed under local anaesthetic and usually takes only a few minutes. The implant is inserted beneath the skin of your non-dominant upper arm using a specialised applicator. After the procedure, a small dressing and pressure bandage are applied to minimise bruising. Most patients are able to return to their normal daily activities immediately.

Implanon® NXT Removal

Removal is also performed under local anaesthetic. A small incision is made to gently remove the implant. If you wish to continue using Implanon® NXT, a new implant can usually be inserted during the same appointment. Fertility generally returns quickly once the implant has been removed.
