MINOR SURGERIES TYPE

Minor surgery encompasses a range of surgical procedures that are relatively straightforward, performed on an outpatient basis, and typically do not require general anesthesia. These procedures are commonly conducted in a clinic setting rather than a hospital environment

The specific types of procedures considered minor surgery can vary, but some common examples include:

  1. Removal of a foreign body from the skin

  2. Ingrown toenail removal

  3. Removal of skin lesions: This may involve removing moles, warts, skin tags, cysts, or small tumors.

  4. Incision and drainage: Opening an abscess or infected area to drain the pus or fluid.

  5. Insertion or removal of medical devices: Placing or removing contraceptive implants

  6. Suturing or stitching wounds: Closing cuts or lacerations with sutures or other methods to promote healing and minimize scarring

  7. Excision of small masses: Removing small lipomas (benign fatty tumors) or other superficial masses

  8. Joint injections: Injecting medication, such as corticosteroids, into joints to alleviate pain or reduce inflammation.

  9. Drainage of fluid collections: Removing fluid buildup, such as from a seroma (fluid collection under the skin) or a joint effusion.

  10. Repair of minor fractures or dislocations: Setting and immobilizing simple fractures or reducing dislocated joints.

Your doctor will take great care in explaining the character of your procedure and any follow-on treatment required.
